Q: What is the song in the new Volkswagen Beetle commercial?
You know the commercial for the new Volkswagen Beetle car with the beetle that is running through the rain forest really fast and jumping obstacles? What is the song in that commercial? I’ve been trying to find out the name of it for years.

A: While both of the other answers have the song right, they both have the artist wrong. The song in the Volkswagen Beetle commercial is “Black Betty” by Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

You can get various cover versions of the song and watch the commercial here:

I am doing a school project and I have to design what the volkswagen beetle will look like in 30 years? Can anybody help me with some ideas? I’m not really into cars!

A: with as many haters as there are now about the beetle there probably wont be any. The newest model looks like a pt cruiser,,ewww. Honestly Im positive this new new one will run for a year or so then theyll cut it out completely.

Q: Would I be making a good decision in buying a Volkswagen Beetle?
I want to buy a cute little Volkswagen Beetle (used) and am wondering if it would be a smart move with gas, also is this a good mileage from a used car I was looking at- 74,075. Thanks!

Q: how far can a 2008 volkswagen beetle car drive on 130gallons of gas?
how far can a 2008 volkswagen beetle car drive on 130gallons of gas?

A: Highway mileage according to the EPA ranges from 28-29 depending on transmission. Depending on driving style, you should be able to fall somewhere in the range of 3,400 to 4,400 miles, or more than enough to drive from Bangor, Maine to Los Angeles, California.

Q: Why is the passenger door of my Volkswagen Beetle really hard and stiff to open?
The door of my Volkswagen is really hard and stiff to open from the inside and my dad has tried putting grease on it but it is still hard to open from the outside. It opens real good from the inside though. What should i do?

A: FIRST YOU GOT TO “UN-LOCK” THE DOOR.
PUSH THE UN-LOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB “TWICE” TO OPEN PASSENGER DOOR.
FROM INSIDE IT AUTOMATICALLY UN-LOCKS WHEN YOU PULL THE HANDLE.

Q: How can I unlock my steering wheel in a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle?
My 2001 VW Beetle will not allow me to turn the ignition to start it up. My steering wheel is locked and I think that is why I cannot turn the ignition. I desperately need help with this and I’m starting to get worried. How can I unlock my steering wheel without turning on my car?

A: You have to turn the wheel slightly to get the load off of the lock and then turn the key. It is a coordinated thing that you need to learn to own a modern car(Not just VW has this).

Q: where can I find an old Volkswagen beetle ?
I would like to restore an old 60’s 70’s beetle to restore , I live in the UK , so it would need to here it is bought as it may be to expensive to import from anywhere else.

A: craigslist?

Q: Is the Volkswagen Beetle TDI diesel a reliable car?
Are Beetle TDIs reliable over 100,000 miles? Are they over all good cars mechanically? Are the new beetles good, reliable cars in general?

A: Depends on the service it has received in its life. Regular oil changes, filter changes and the like. The diesel engine will go a million miles. The turbo or fuel injection pump will fail before then and then at that point there is the cost of fixing it to consider. My pump went at 400, cost of repairing it was more than the value of the 20 yo car. Could not get a replacement pump at wreckers either. So at that point, dumped the car.

Q: On a 1950s Volkswagen Beetle, what is that yellow thing right behind the door that flips up?
I’m an aircooled Volkswagen enthusiest at age 16, and to tell you the truth I never understood what that thing is.

This 53 Oval has it (I may be buying it, I hope I get it!)

I’m thinking it’s the directional?

A: From http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/dic/w.php

Winker The German word for the “semaphore” or as the English have called them “trafficators”

Those funny directional devices used on Volkswagens from the 1930s prototypes to 1960 (in Europe) semaphores were last seen on US bound cars about 1955. They were also known in late 1950s early 60s US Army slang as “idiot sticks” and made illegal by the German safe pedestrian laws in 1961.

————————————————————————————————-
Originally, all turning indication had to be done using hand-signals (no indicator lights in those days). VW brought out the semaphores which indicated whether you were turning right (right semaphore would pop out ) or left (left semaphore would pop out). This was essential the introduction of mechanical/electrical turn signal indication.

Subsequently cars were fitted with indicator lights and as the laws changed even the VW’s fitted with these semaphores had to have indicator lights fitted.

Q: Would you find a big guy driving a classic volkswagen beetle funny?
I want to get a classic beetle. I am a bigger guy (wide and tall) and want to know if you would find it funny to see a big guy drive a bug. It will be more of a manly car as it will have a Subaru STI engine. Thanks
im bi btw not gay

A: I will put it to you “this” way. My late husband was 6 feet 5 inches tall,
and there was nothing “gay” or funny looking about him. All it means is that you are a big guy who happens to have good taste in cars. VW’s are great cars, that’s why they are still around. I happen to own 8 Volkswagen’s, and no doubt will own “more” before it’s all said and done. Good luck, and welcome to the world of Volkswagens.

Q: What car should I get, Acura TSX or Convertible Volkswagen Beetle?
I’m 17, in college, and i’m going to get a car soon. I’m deciding between an Acura tsx and a convertible beetle. Which one gets better gas mileage? And which one is going to last me longer? I’m planning on getting used as well, so which year is best to buy? I also plan to travel often, so that’s a factor too.

If there are any other suggestions about a better car please suggest it! Thanks :)

A: Well, the TSX is an all around better car. It is more fun to drive, has more room, and looks nicer. They will last about the same, and they get about the same mileage, so it is up to you, although convertible is naturally higher maintenance, since there are more things that can break. I actually am trying to convince my dad to get a TSX as his next car, since he is currently shopping for one.

Don’t get me wrong, the Beetle is a nice car, but I would personally enjoy being able to comfortably carry more people, and have a nicer interior.

Last, don’t forget that overall, car choice is an opinion. If you really like convertible Beetles, go for it, you only live once.

Q: Does horn on a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle have a ground wire?
The beetle wiring harness for this model has a ground attached, but where does it connect on the horn, or does it connect elsewhere?

A: go here and start searching.

The horn always has power. The horn button is the ground.

Q: I need a new key for my 2000 Volkswagen Beetle?
I was wondering what the price for a new key for my beetle would be, because the key I currently have is beaten up pretty bad, and I would really like to have a new one. What would be the price and where could I get one? It doesn’t even have to be the whole key, just the plastic part.

A: Go to a VW dealer, they can fix you up for $20.00 to $60.00
may be free if it is in warranty.

Q: Would this Volkswagen beetle be a decent first car for a guy?
Im thinking about getting a beetle for a first car, yes i am a guy, but its a car so u cant really say its feminine or masculine. it would be a dudes car when im done with it. It willl look like a beetle with a spoiler and it will have black rims with a silver lip outline, and the car will be either, silver, gray or black.
