Q: How many hp can you get out of an old mini cooper?
I’m looking at getting a 1.3 litre mini cooper probably a 99 reg. I want to know how much power can you sensibly squeeze out of the engine. And how fast (top speed and acceleration) will it be?
A: Depends on how far you want to go with the modifications, are you keeping the A series or putting a different lump in.
You don’t buy a mini for top speed, you buy it for the twisties and the back streets. Nothing handles like a mini.
If it was me i’d put a jap engine in it, maybe one from a bike even. Hayabusa powered mini’s are awesome.
Q: What is the cost to insure a Mini Cooper?
Before I went around entering information to different agents to get quotes I thought I would attempt to get a general consensus on the insurance cost of a Mini Cooper/Cooper S
Age: 21
Location: Brighton (suburb of Boston)
Commuting: Less than 15 miles both ways to attend school
I have never had any accidents, tickets, claims, etc. My mother would be a cosigner on the car itself if that has any effect.
Thanks for any information!
A: depends on whether or not its an S model. just call your insurance provider
Q: What would you think if you saw a girl driving a mini cooper?
Are mini coopers really that girly? What would you think? Thanks!
A: I would think, “Hey – there is a girl driving a mini-cooper! Is that a new mini or a classic one?”
Here in Northern Arizona more boys and girls drive pick-up trucks than minis.
Q: Should I buy a Mini Cooper or a Honda Civic?
I am buying one or the other. The orange mini cooper is my dream car, but I love Honda cars and the new civics look pretty cool. What do you think? Which should I get?
A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net
Q: Which is a better vehicle in your opinion: a VW Beetle or a Mini Cooper?
I’ve been doubling up on my payments on my 2000 Ford Ranger lately because I want to hurry up and get rid of it as the gas prices are KILLING me! I’ve narrowed the next car I want down to either a VW Beetle or a Mini Cooper. Both are great on gas mileage, but I can’t decide on which I’d rather have! I know both are quite small but the biggest thing I’d need to put in either are my golf clubs, lol! Also, which do you think would be easier to work on?
Any insight you could give me would be great!
A: Mini copper is a sensible option; it is with the best agility and is smaller in diameter, so parking is much easier. A VW is good also but it is a cliché. A bug for a new era or something, no charisma. A cooper is a beast enclosed in a fluffy pack! Girly, but with style & power.
Q: Shipping my Mini Cooper to a different dealer?
I’m very excited because I recently purchased a brand new Mini Cooper S.
Here’ my dilemma…I ordered my Mini through the South Atlanta dealership in order to get exactly what I wanted. It won’t arrive for another 5-7 weeks and by then I will be living in the Dallas area.
I have a family member willing to drive my car out but don’t really trust him to.
Does anyone know if it is possible for the company to ship my car to the Fort Worth dealership instead?
I do plan on calling the dealer about this but wanted to see if any of y’all have experience with this first
A: If you already paid the money for the car, yes the dealership can arrange for the car to be shipped to you (not directly). The dealership needs to check out the car first for inspection making sure the car is in a good condition. they will fill out the necessaary paperwork and ship the car to you. They might charge you for the shipping cost from dealer to Dallas.
If they say they cannot ship, just cancel the deal, since you do not have the car yet, you can get your money back from the dealership. Just visit a local dealership in Dallas and have them get you the car.
Q: What is good and bad about a new Mini Cooper?
I’m getting a new mini cooper next month and just curious as to whats good and bad about them, as in what people think who actually have/had one or work with them
A: we have 2 and we absolutely love them! you’re going to love it!
and another thing, the people who say they aren’t safe are just lying! its one of the safest out there.

look at that, and you’ll know its true.
they may seem small, but the insides are sooo roomy! my dad, (6foot something) gets in my car comfortably. there is more room in those for someone like him than there is in the VW jetta.
it is made by bmw, liek someone already mentioned. and, as you know, they are fairly inexpensive (for only a little bit more than buying a plain old toyota car, you can get just a neat car). If you live in a smaller town or far from dealerships, there probably isnt a great deal of them.
Q: Where can i get updated software for the factory fitted Sat Nav in my 2002 Mini Cooper S?
I have a 2002 Mini Cooper S with the inbuilt, factory fitted Sat Nav system. However, the Sat Nav system is total tosh and I assume that it hasn’t been updated from the day it was originally bought in 2002.
Does anyone know if you can update the software on this system, and if so, how? I’ve looked at various web forums but can’t make hide nor hair of it all as I can’t even work out what version of the Sat Nav system I have. I’ve read you can download an update and burn it onto CD, but not sure if this applies to my version or what version I would need to download. Any help would be appreciated.
A: you have to go to a bmw dealer as they deal with mini now

Q: Engine overhauling into a 1990 mini cooper?
Is it possible to to stick A motorbikes (suzuki GSXR 1000) engine in a mini cooper 1.3 and how hard will it be.
A: mini`s have very powerfull engines(if you do the work on them) them selves no point changeing. And sory i wouldnt have a clue how to fit a motor bike engine in a car:)
Q: What are some good MINI Cooper forums (especially in Souther California)?
I’m hoping to become a new MINI Cooper owner in the next 1-2 months and would like to find a forum where I can start to ask questions. I’m hoping that the forum might be part of a Southern California MINI club. I’m open to all suggestions.
A: try www.northamericanmotoring.com
you’ll find all kindsof info on there and even some of the member will be able to direct you to other MINI forums.
Q: how to connect ipod in a mini cooper?
I have an 09 mini cooper? I cant figure out how to connect my ipod to my car using the built in AUX port…. is there any button I have to press? Please help!
A: You have to bring up the menu and switch to the Aux port it looks like a headphone jack.
You do have the Mini IPOD cord as well correct ?
Q: why doesnt the passanger window of my mini cooper go down? ?
i had to down yesterday n it was just fine and then today i went to put it down and it doesn’t go down i don’t know what to do or how to fix it.. any suggestions its a 2004 mini cooper.
A: id suggest taking it to a shop and having a professional pull the door panel off and give you an estimate on repairing it
Q: Whats the diff between mini cooper and mini cooper S?
The mini cooper is cheaper by a few thousand dollars. What makes the S cost more? Anything WORTH the extra few thousand?
So what would I need the extra HP for, beside feeling cool
Because, unless its important, I dont want to put the extra on it…
A: the main things you are paying for in the mini cooper s and the mini cooper are:
horse power 172 vs. 118
Sport seats vs non sport seats
16′wheels vs 15′ wheels
rear spoiler
of course the stock vs. stock.
Do you need the extra hp in the cooper s. most of the time my customers come in and all say they NEED the Cooper S. but after looking the style of driving they do and where they are driving most often, they always change their mind and get the cooper. most people are just commuting back and forth to work, home, school, etc. sitting in stop and go traffic all day doesn’t require extra hp. I have both and have been selling them for 5 years now, both are very fun and save me alot of money in gas. the difference in 0mph to 60 mph in the cooper s and the cooper is 3 sec. 6.5 for the Cooper S and 8.5 in the Cooper.
If you do go for the Cooper (non S) think about getting the following:
Xenon head lights, these are bright and you can see alot better during night time driving. Plus people will see you better as well.
16 wheels with run flats, just in case. if you get a flat, just keep driving to some place to have them fix or replaced. I’d rather spend a little extra here knowing that i’ll never be stuck on the side of a busy freeway changing a spare tire.
and the auto dimming rear view mirror. The trust me on this. those lights from behind during night time driving reflect off the mirror right in to your eyes. either that or get a dark tint on your rear three windows.
Q: can you bargain with a Mini Cooper dealer?
i’m trying to buy a new mini cooper but the dealer is pretty adamant about not budging on the listed MSRP. has anyone ever successfully bargained for a discount? does going thru the costco auto purchasing program give you any discounts?
A: those people that say you can bargain obviously haven’t tried it themselves. the mini cooper dealers will flat out tell you that they won’t bargain, and if you threaten to walk out or go to another dealership they’ll happily show you the door. they know that someone else will want to buy the car at list price, plus they also know that there’s not many mini dealers around, so if you really are going to visit another dealer, you might have to travel a few hundred miles or so.
keep in mind that a few years ago when mini coopers were very much in demand, some dealers were inflating their prices even further than MSRP!
